This is a pilot feature and will not be available to all organisations yet.
The estimated travel warning is a validation introduced to help schedulers when rostering. It helps to identify if there is insufficient estimated travel time between rostered appointments. It will be available on the live calendar, roster period and base roster when creating a new session, modifying session times or modifying a worker.

Estimating travel explained
The estimated travel warnings can be triggered by a scheduler when creating a new session, moving a session, or adding or swapping a worker on an existing session It will flag and identify when there is insufficient estimated travel time between appointments. The warnings will identify the appointments affected, the rostered gap, and the estimated travel time and distance between the previous and next appointments.
The travel time and distance is estimated via the Google Routes API and are calculated based on:
- traffic conditions forecasted at the point in time of scheduling,
- the fastest route based on time,
- toll routes, and
- appointments within an 8-hour time frame (before and after).
Similarly, if you are making changes to a group session, it will identify any travel conflicts for all workers.
The estimated travel warnings do not prevent the session from proceeding, but act as a warning for a scheduler to acknowledge. It is important to note that this is an estimate provided at the point in time the scheduler is making an appointment.
Estimated travel warnings can only be calculated if the geo-location of an appointment is provided (this automatically happens when an address is captured). If the geo-location cannot be identified, then the address is used instead. If neither is provided, the system will be unable to estimate travel and will display a warning.
Where estimation of travel occurs
Estimating travel occurs upon clicking next or save on the live calendar, roster period and base roster when creating a new session, modifying session times or modifying a worker. If the estimated travel identifies a conflict between the rostered gap and estimated travel time, a warning is displayed.
The warning banner will contain information for each worker who has a conflict.
