Lumary WFM - This article explains how to create an award interpretation estimate that shows the roster period's cost breakdown.
If you have a budget for your roster period, you can create an award interpretation estimate to see whether your roster is likely to be within your budget. You can use this estimate to check whether you should adjust any shifts or sessions on the roster period before you publish it to the live roster.

Before you begin...
To estimate award interpretation for a roster period, you'll need to:
- Open an existing roster period or create a new roster period that has not been published. Once a roster period is published, it will no longer be available for estimating award interpretation.
- Run validation rules for the rostering period. Estimate award interpretation is only available for a roster period once validation rules have been checked.
If you've rostered casual workers, they'll need to have a timesheet for you to run a successful estimate.
Once you're on the roster period calendar, to create an award interpretation estimate:
- Click on the Estimate Award Interpretation button.
- This will launch an Estimate Award Interpretation popup.
- By default, estimates only include draft sessions that are yet to be published to the live roster. To include existing published sessions for the period of the roster, put a tick in the Include scheduled sessions checkbox.
- Click on the Next button to run the process.
If you've run the process before, your previous estimate will be deleted and replaced.
Once the process is complete, it'll show a cost breakdown summary with the following tables:
- Grand Total
- Total by Pay Code, and
- Total by Contact.
Additional detail, including specific dates, pay codes and pay totals can be found by clicking on the Click here to view the detailed report text link. The report will open in a new browser tab.
- Click on the Close button to close the estimate.
The grand total will now appear in the Estimated Cost Breakdown button. You can click on this button to reopen the breakdown summary.
If you make changes to your roster period, you'll need to run the process again to update the estimate.
Once you're happy with the estimates, you can publish the roster period to the live Scheduling roster.
